Individual Therapy
Individual therapy is a joint process between the therapist and the patient. This type of psychotherapy focuses on the individual and helps them work through personal issues they have been facing. It is an effective treatment for a variety of emotional difficulties and mental illnesses, with the primary goal being to increase a person’s understanding of their thought and behavior patterns.
Common goals of therapy can be to inspire change or improve quality of life. Therapy can help people overcome obstacles to their well-being, learn skills for handling difficult situations and managing stress, and how to make healthy decisions while working towards their goals. Many people find they enjoy the therapeutic journey of becoming more self-aware.
How It Works
Step One
We'll talk about what's been happening in your life and how it's been affecting you and your relationships. We'll discuss your family, childhood, career and relationships, including any significant events that have occurred. This information will help me to get a better understanding of who you are.
Step Two
We will then start to explore the thoughts, feelings and behaviors that are problematic for you and learn how things got that way, while connecting them to your needs, life events and your personal and professional relationships.
Step Three
I'll help you learn the process of being aware of your day-to-day thoughts and associated feelings. We will then explore your negative core beliefs, challenge those beliefs, and help you find ways to change negative emotions, thoughts and habits.
